Rotary l’Alfàs del Pi Literary Prize

“Community Service encourages every Rotarian to find ways to improve the quality of life for people in their communities and to serve the public interest”
One of the Rotarian avenues of service.

In these times of confinement, in which we have been denied our freedom, each person, in their own way may have moments of loneliness, through a lack of communication with other people or they might be going through a tough time emotionally or economically. As Rotarians within the community, we would like to add our grain of salt by helping people with this project, by putting pen to paper and putting their emotional energy into creating something instead of into the negativity that surrounds us in these weeks of lockdown.

As the famous pychiatrist Boris Cyrulnik said in his book: "At night I will write suns", referring to the resilience that is essential in order to control his fears and to be re-born from his fears: he notes the power of resilience, through the written word.To express oneself is to vent, to get negative emotions off one´s chest and thereby improve your mental state and find optimism and balance.

Literary creation is a way of improving one´s mental health and creating more positivity. For this reason, Rotary International L’Alfàs del Pi has created a literary prize to help our community in times of uncertainty during this confinement.
