Rotary Club donates money raised at the Flamenco concert to Corazón Exprés.
Rotary Club International L’Alfás del Pi has donated 1.150€ to the local Altea charity Corazón Exprés. This money was raised at the Flamenco concert that was held at the Culture Hall in L’Alfàs del Pi in February. Rocío Montoya gave an excellent performance along with her musicians Esteban Dávila and Elías Madrigal. Thanks go to the l’Alfás del Pi Town Hall for their collaboration.
The money was used to buy a good number of basic goods which will go to help local families across the Marina Baixa and Marina Alta.
The President of Rotary Club Internation L’Alfàs del Pi, Dr Sharon Nilsson is seen in the photo, along with the President of Corazón Exprés, Magdalena López del Castillo and her volunteers, and the Councillor for Culture from the Town Hall, Manuel Casado.
Manuel Casado said he was grateful for the initiative by the Rotary Club and for their solidarity towards those in need. He also thanked the public who supported the Rotary Club by attending the concert. He also wished to thank the altruistic and tireless work of the association Corazón Exprés, who will put the donation to good use.
Corazón Exprés is a charitable association who helps those families in situations of emergency. They help transform lives through immediate action, where other sources don´t reach quickly enough.
Rotary Club International L’Alfàs del Pi was formed in 2017. Across the world, Rotary International connects people, connecting 1.4 million members worldwide; Rotary transforms communities with 47 million volunteer hours worldwide each year; they fund sustainable projects, with 333 million dollars for global services in 2020-2021.
Rotary Club International L’Alfàs del Pi has formed a collaborating association with Corazón Exprés, called A Rotary Community Corps (RCC). An RCC is a group of non-Rotarians who share our commitment to changing the world through service projects.
RCC members plan and carry out projects in their communities and support local Rotary club projects. Sponsored by a Rotary club, an RCC leverages Rotary’s network, brand, and mentorship by partnering with clubs to plan and implement service projects. RCCs increase Rotary’s impact and expand its reach by bringing the knowledge and talents of local people to strengthen their community through sustainable projects.
There are more than 11,000 corps in 105 countries and 257 districts. RCCs are active everywhere Rotary is present: in urban and rural areas, and in both developed and developing countries. Read more about RCC trends worldwide in the annual Rotary Community Corps report.
The club has created an environmental project concentrated on beach cleaning, and in collaboration with Sun Palace Hotel & Spa, we have helped to start a chang in hotel habits away from plastics and using sustainable products. They are currently raising funds to help Ukrainian refugees arriving in La Marina area and to collaborate with local clubs in Ukraine with the aftermath of the war.
Rotary Club International L’Alfàs del Pi is a small and young club with limited resources, although we strive to be as active as possible. This year's motto is: "Serve to change lives."
